Spencer Hansen's artworks examines the weight of time, both through the process of assembly and the resulting creation. Technical methods involving countless hours facilitate transformations of corporeal artifacts. Animal skulls and bones are integral to his sculptural works, acknowledged as a symbolically charged subject matter, but stripped down to abstraction. Metal chains, wet formed leather and wood alter the organic skeletal contour, allowing us to momentarily face time as tiers
of abstract shapes, shadows and textures.
