marxART 2024, an international online solo digital and photography art exhibition by John Mark Rainey opens on June 01, and will continue for two months until August 01, 2024.

Welcome to "marxART 2024," an exhibition by John Mark Rainey that invites you to truly see art, not just look at it. Mark believes that art is participatory, thriving on the connection between The Artist, The Work of Art, and The Observer. This connection, whether it stirs admiration or indifference, forms the essence of the experience. Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s words, "To see takes time," Mark's goal is for you to engage deeply with his creations, forging a meaningful relationship with each piece. Enjoy the journey of seeing.

Artist ( Description ):

Growing up in South Central Mississippi, John Mark Rainey's journey took him on a path of dedication and passion for both education and the arts. Upon graduating from high school, he found himself in the US Air Force before pursuing higher education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his BFA in Art Education.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Rainey's artistic talent and love for teaching led him to accept a coveted position as an art teacher in the Saginaw Michigan Public Schools. For four years, he dedicated his time and expertise to nurturing young creative minds. Not one to rest on his laurels, Rainey saw the value in furthering his education and pursued a Master's degree in Educational Administration at Central Michigan University, successfully completing his studies.

Building upon his newfound knowledge and qualifications, Rainey transitioned into administrative roles within the Saginaw Public Schools. Over the years, he held various positions, utilizing his expertise to improve the educational experience for students and fellow educators alike.

In 1990, Rainey's dedication and leadership earned him the position of Executive Director at KRESA, the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency. His influence extended beyond administrative duties, as he co-chaired the Kalamazoo County Education For the Arts initiative, fostering the growth and appreciation of the arts within the community.

After a fulfilling career in education, Rainey chose to retire in 2004, but his passion for sharing knowledge and inspiring others proved unstoppable. He joined Western Michigan University as a professor in the College of Education, imparting his wisdom and experience to aspiring educators. During this time, Rainey's thirst for knowledge drew him back to academia, and he successfully completed his Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Rainey's artistic prowess not only enriched the lives of his students but also garnered recognition and appreciation in the wider art community. His exhibits in numerous art shows showcased his talent and unique expression, allowing his creations to find their way into both private collections and public spaces, leaving a lasting impact on all who encountered them.

John Mark Rainey's dedication to education, passion for the arts, and relentless pursuit of knowledge has left an indelible mark on the lives he has touched. His story serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the transformative power of education and the extraordinary potential that resides within every individual.
