ArtCan is pleased to present ‘Sanctuary’ the inaugural exhibition organised by the ArtCan East Anglia group in the town of Cambridge.
Members of ArtCan East Anglia won a bursary to bring art by women from around East Anglia to the sanctuary of the Leper Chapel. The Leper Chapel is a magnificent 12th century Romanesque building and is one of the oldest complete surviving buildings in Cambridge. The chapel, which is not usually open to the public provides the backdrop for the work of 12 women artists who worked together to create a show that incorporates painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media and drawing. Not following a specific theme for this exhibition, the artists aim is to showcase their work so that it resonates with the wonderful space engaging in an uplifting way with their audience.
The exhibition runs from 25 - 28 May, 11 – 4pm at the Leper Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene, Barnwell Junction on the Newmarket Road in Cambridge, CB5 8JJ.
A launch event takes place on Saturday 27 May 2023, 17:00-20:00. Free Entry. Step access to venue.
