Desperate Artist Seeking… A lonely ‘Arts club for desperate Artists

A-side B-side gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition by the new collective, ‘Desperate Artist Seeking’.

The collective was created by an artist and an Art History graduate. Disillusioned with the arts sector and its inaccessibility, they decided to create an open platform for creatives - a space where they can promote their practices and exhibit their work in an environment that’s liberating and exciting. Opportunities for young artists to gain exposure and network with other creatives are scarce until they’ve 'made it' and ‘Desperate Artist Seeking’ believes this is unfair.

‘Desperate Artist Seeking’ is a lonely-hearts ad for these desperate artists, a satirical take on the difficulty most young creatives face in getting their work seen in the early part of their careers. We aim to create a series of events where ‘desperate artists’ can seek something different every time, and in doing so, create a melting-pot for new ideas: perhaps even the birth of a movement.

Desperate Artist Seeking’s first exhibition will be a collection of works by five emerging female artists:

Andreea Ionascu: Sculptor, 2nd year MA at Slade School of ArtBronwyn McMillin: Canada based painter
Camilla Bliss: Multidisciplinary artist who exhibited at the 2018 RA summer show
Haydn Albrow: Mixed media artist, first year MA at Slade School of Art
Rosie Crawley: Painter, Wimbledon College of Arts graduate

The intention of this first exhibition is to explore, observe, experiment and promote the works of the artists involved, integrating the various styles and personalities that materialise within their practices without confining the works to a specific theme. The artworks range from conceptual paintings to sculptural installations, each artist has an individual and unique style.

Join us on the 6th September 2018 for the public viewing where you can meet the artists, have a drink and mingle. Our simple aim is to unite all creatives in London!
