Independent online art retailer BobCat Gallery will host a new virtual exhibition via their website for the month of June. ‘Seeds of the Mind’ will focus on small scale, original artworks linked to dreams, imagination and introspection.
A metaphor sometimes used to describe our dreams is that they are ‘seeds of the mind’, and so this exhibition will collect together pieces which link to our inner worlds and the landscapes of our imaginations, displaying work from BobCat Gallery artists and other international artists via an open call.
Catherine Sweet, curator and Founder of BobCat Gallery, says: “One artist recently paraphrased Edward Hopper to me - that if we could all articulate in words what was going on in our heads, we wouldn’t need to create art… and for the millionth time that rang so true, it inspired this exhibition.
This will be a diverse exhibition of original artworks showcasing the talent of BobCat Gallery artists as well as others around the globe who have responded to our open call.
Included will be both figurative and abstract works depicting the workings of our minds, and the variety of ways that artists process thought, emotion, dreams, hopes, and the ups and downs of our modern world.
For so many people in so many ways, this is such an emotionally raw time. I hope that this exhibition can contribute to the wider conversation helping to safeguard our mental wellbeing, and that people can find art they connect with on a fundamental level here.”
The exhibition will be accessible via the BobCat Gallery homepage for the whole of June, and will launch on 1st June with an online private view from 6.30pm GMT. The Private View will feature a brief tour of the virtual gallery as well as talks with selected artists.
