The exhibition "Unbridled Desires" presents artworks by Irish artist Camilla Hanney & Cuban artist Leo Morey.
London-based artist Camilla Hanney presents the series "Unsaintly Relics", bringing together a series of sculptural ceramics that recall the figures and slick surfaces of dainty porcelain sculptures, religious artefacts, and Dutch still life vanitas paintings. The sculptures reclaim objects and imagery of the past to tackle ideas such as feminine beauty ideals and greed, taking the form of female busts or body parts bedecked with fine frocks and sugary treats.
York-based painter Leo Morey's atmospheric, vibrant and colourful works explore Cuban identity, using the human figure and the way it interacts with other individuals as a vehicle to connect the public with Cuban culture and heritage. The artist paints scenes of ordinary people in their daily life, emphasizing elements such as body language, facial expression and a vast skin colour diversity.
The duo exhibition will run from the 15th to the 21st of October at our gallery located at 150 Tooley Street, London, SE1 2TU. An opening event will take place on Friday 15th of October (6-9).
