Ideal for newcomers and improvers in bag making, this one-day class introduces students to the construction methods of a stylish clutch bag based on available patterns prepared by our renowned tutor Selina Cheong.
You will learn a few fabric/leather clutch bag making techniques and walk away with a beautiful classic clutch bag worthy of any special event. Your clutch bag can be produced from a variety of fabrics or fine leathers.
Course content:
- Cutting leather/material by hand
- Leather folding
- Leather and material sewing
- Practising using industrial sewing machines
- Attaching standard fittings (magnetic fastener)
- Assembling backings, linings and gussets
- Learning the technique of making an 'inset gusset' construction
What you need to bring with you:
- Please bring your own leather or fabric for the body of your clutch bag.
- We have a very basic selection of lining fabric but recommend you bring your own lining materials.
- You will need:
- approximately 50cm x 50cm fabric or 3sq ft of leather for the outer bag and
- approximately 50cm x 50cm fabric or 2sq ft of leather for the lining.
The leather shouldn't be too thick or stiff. Sheep or lamb 'nappa' leathers are ideal for this course.
- Any trims you wish to use i.e. ribbons, buttons, decorations
- Notebook and pen

No previous bag-making experience is needed for this course which is suitable for everyone but experience of using a domestic sewing machine is recommended!
