Are you a creative? Join the Zealous team for a celebration of artistic collaboration and networking.

For the third installation in our Meetup series, we’ll discuss the evolution of art through interactive technologies. It’s an increasingly-popular outlet for artists so we want to delve deeper and discover what the future holds, with so many new creative mediums available to us.

We’ve got a stellar panel lined up including media artist Aphra Shemza, Kimatica Studio’s Creative Director Maria Almena, and creative coder and sound artist Tim Murray-Browne. They’ll chat about their experiences exploring new artistic mediums and offer insights on where interactive arts are headed.

Aphra Shemza incorporates abstraction, interaction and light in her work. She expresses herself using radical new technologies and explores how we might use these tools to imagine art's future purposes. Since graduating in 2012, Aphra has exhibited her work across London. In 2016, she undertook two public commissions for the Canary Wharf Group in One Canada Square and another for Louis Roederer Champagne, which was exhibited in the Shard’s Shangri’La Hotel.

Maria Almena is a Creative Director and multimedia artist, co-founder of Kimatica Studio. Pioneers in digital performances, they explore the intersection of the human body, performance and interactive technology, creating unique digital experiences that dissolve the boundaries between fantasy and reality. Maria enjoys playing with visual perceptions to transport the viewer into new worlds, and dramatise the transition between states of consciousness. Selected past clients include Tate Liverpool, Kinetica Art Fair, Barbican Centre and Reina Sofia Museum (Madrid).

Tim Murray-Browne works with code, sound and visuals to create interactive installations and performances using physical interaction to explore embodied experience. Tim graduated with a Masters in Maths and Computer Science from Oxford University (2008) and completed his PhD on interactive music and art at Queen Mary University London in 2012. He was also Sound and Music’s Composer in Residence at Music Hackspace in 2012-13 where he created The Cave of Sounds (awarded the Sonic Arts Prize, 2014).

We encourage interaction between all attendees so the Meetup is a great opportunity to meet fellow artists from all disciplines.

Some free drinks and light refreshments will be available.
