Meadow Arts and National Trust Herefordshire invite you to discover the Weir Garden this September. The National Trust is creating a vibrant home for wildlife at The Weir, restoring acres of woodland, orchards, and wildflower meadows. This ongoing project will unfold over many years, with the goal of creating a dynamic and evolving landscape for all to enjoy.
This September a showcase event and a series of creative public workshops will take place at The Weir to help the National Trust design meaningful and accessible experiences as the landscape changes in the years to come.
People, Proposition, Landscape Showcase: 7 – 22 September 2024
Over the summer, Meadow Arts ran a series of artist-led workshops for visitors and local community groups at The Weir Garden, during which participants created drawings, poetry, sculptures and ceramics, all inspired by the landscape at The Weir and what nature means to them.
From Saturday 7 to Sunday 22 September, explore the gardens and discover a series of displays that highlight the activities that have taken place and showcase some of the creative work developed as part of this project. As you explore, we invite you to reflect on your own relationship with nature and consider what kind of experiences you’d like to have at The Weir Garden in the future.
Special Events on 14 September, 11am - 3pm
On Saturday 14 September, we will also be hosting two public workshops with artists Harriet Carter and Chris Poolman.
Chris Poolman’s ‘Stick Hire Service’ for Dogs: Dogs and their owners are invited to select a special stick for the duration of their visit and have their portrait taken. All sticks are locally sourced from Herefordshire and the borders and come with special canine powers. Highlights include the SAS stick, Moreton Wood Stick, and a legendary stick from the doggy Mappa Mundi circa 1300.
Harriet Carter’s Drawing Session: Capture The Weir Garden’s multiple habitats through drawing. Join Dr. Harriet Carter as she leads a session using a range of techniques and materials to help participants explore the beauty and diversity of the landscape.
Please note: The workshops are free to take part in and do not require bookings (Normal admission charges apply).
