Creative Connections is pleased to welcome Alexei Naumovich back to the gallery! Now in his 80's, Naumovich turned to painting after a 40 year career as an architect. Born in the Soviet Union, he moved to the United States in the early 2000's and is currently a resident of Amherst, MA. His travels take him back and forth between the two countries and occasionally to France, where some of the works in this current exhibit were painted. He speaks humbly about his art, characterizing it as "finding truth in simplicity". His color palettes are often muted and understated, inviting the viewer in for a close inspection of the work. As Alexei states, “For every artist the most important idea is getting as close to the ‘truth’ as possible. Different artists have different understandings about real truth, but for me the real truth is your ability to effectively use your medium. I am trying to find truth in these simple landscapes”.
Alexei's work will be on view through March 2020.
