P  U  R  I  T  Y, an exhibition of photography by Laurel Feldman at The Golden Triangle on Thursday, June 28th 2018 from 5:30-8:30 P.M.

WHAT:

The Golden Triangle is proud to announce the opening of PURITY; a photography exhibition by artist Laurel Feldman, wine and light refreshments will be served.

Laurel Feldman has been in the business of creating beauty –finding it, arranging it and bringing it into the residential environment for over 30 years as one of the Chicago’s leading interior designers.  Here at The Golden Triangle we’ve worked with her on countless projects but have only known her as an artist for a few years.  Laurel’s work impresses the viewer with the mystery it draws from the subject matter.  Lotus flowers, also referred to as water lilies, are an important Buddhist symbol found in Thai and Southeast Asian art we often come across on trips to the region.  For the Thais in particular, the lotus represents purity. The plant grows out of the mud and through the dim muddy water of a pond emerges in its fullest expression –a perfectly clean bloom – in the sunlight and air above.

Laurel Feldman’s ethereal photographs capture this dichotomy as the flawless blooms float on a dark inky background.  But they are not unreal; by printing on highly reflective metallic paper and uncasing the photos in acrylic, the effect on the viewer is one of extreme vividness and realism.  In addition to her lotus photos, examples of her other work will also be on display, with subject matter including roses, tropical palms, tree bark and olive trees.
