Justin Marsh is a Sacramento-based artist currently working in painting, printmaking, and video. In Fever, his first solo exhibit at the Pence Gallery, Marsh expands upon his ongoing thematic interest in the nature of human failure and collapse. Exploring new tensions in our social fabric relating to the civil and political turmoil, as well as the omnipresence of the pandemic in our lives, Marsh creates a powerful sense of unease. These recent works are joined by prints, videos, and paintings completed pre-pandemic. As an artist who is not beholden to one medium to articulate his thought process, he ends up setting up conversations that explore the links between photography, painting, and film.
