The Stories We Tell Ourselves includes narrative work by figurative artists Liz Webb and Laurelin Gilmore. Liz Webb’s sculptural constructions are small treasures to behold. Typically centering on a female figure that she sculpts out of clay, she then arranges them into poetic scenes, sometimes including well-worn wood, or objects of great sentiment to her. Laurelin Gilmore’s paintings blur the edge between human and beast, using mythology and legend to create fascinating depictions of surreal creatures. Her work often references nature and our push-and-pull relationship to its powerful influence in our lives.
