Thread/Bare

Brand Library Art Galleries features thread/bare, a beautiful and thought-provoking exhibition of artists who weave two-dimensional mixed media work with sculpture and site-specific installations. The exhibition is curated by Yoram Gil with artists Nurit Avesar, Elana Kundell, Susan Kurland, Janet Neuwalder, Sigrid Orlet, and Peggy Pownall.

  • Exhibition on View: Saturday, May 16-Saturday, July 18, 2015
  • Opening Reception: Saturday, June 6, 7-9pm
  • Artist Talk: Thursday, June 18, 7pm

Los Angeles art critic, Shana Nys Dambrot, describes thread/bare as an exhibition in which “threads converge and commonalities are laid bare among a group of artists who each in their own way pursue the elusive connections between nature, experience, and abstraction.” The exhibition concept began with the idea that history is always personal, but evolves into wider threads that explore the nature of being in the world and “the transformative, even alchemical, effects of art-making as an action.”
