The subject of Virginia Sharkey’s vivid abstract acrylic paintings is time; the presentation specifically of a series of tone poems to noon and midnight conveying the energy and feeling of these opposite 12’s. On the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, a re-reading of the Divine Comedy with his three stages of the soul’s progress towards heaven in ascending light inspired Commedia.
