Stencil artist MOR presents a solo exhibition centered around symbols/totems that she has carried around internally, that have populated her sketchbooks and dreams and grown in narrative significance. A daughter of storytellers, artists, firefighters, mothers, miners, and survivors; MOR holds credence in the tenacity of the human spirit. She believes beauty, and the ability to recognize beauty in the everyday, is what allows us to live full and artful lives. To expand our chests and vigorously take life in - to be curious, to allow ourselves to be surprised and to live courageously in the face of unfolding mystery. MOR's work is a manifestation of this expanding practice, which for her is rooted in deep, symbol laden dreams. Her studio practice centers around large-scale animalistic cutouts, and a corresponding series of images created by layers of hand made stencils. Using an exacto blade, she cuts away at paper, coaxing out underlying imagery and emerging narratives.
