As We See It, an exhibit of photographs by Vidya Kane and Steve Shpall will run at the Gallery House, 320 California, Palo Alto, CA (650-326-1668) from July 25 to August 19, 2017. A reception will take place on July 29, Saturday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.
It’s common for people to assume that all photographers “shoot” what is in front of them. However, as we all see and experience the world in different ways, each photographer looks to communicate their unique vision through their work. In the show As We See It, Steve Shpall and Vidya Kane attempt to show how different their art can be while still using photography as the common medium.
Steve’s inspirations often start with a random conversation and as the idea evolves, words turn into images. His goal with photography is to have the viewer look at the image and wonder, “How did he do that”. Steve has been a long standing member of Gallery House.
Vidya’s photographs the beauty of nature’s purest elements in the pursuit of providing an emotional link to these lands. Photography is a vehicle to express her inner most sense of connection and spirituality with our majestic landscapes. She also believes that the ultimate manifestation of her art rests in the creation of expressive prints. Her work has been exhibited at various museums and galleries including Yosemite Museum Gallery, Fresno Art Museum, Triton Museum of Art, Spectrum Art Gallery (Fresno) and Riverfront Art Gallery (Petaluma).
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry to the exhibit is free for the public.
