Visualizations:  Art and Science

Margaret Lazzari, Curator:

"In this exhibition, I wish to present visualizations that seek to expand the scope of our knowledge by explaining new concepts with relative clarity. More than just diagrams, however, I want to see visualizations with an aesthetic dimension that helps us to grasp vividly the sheer awesomeness of the phenomena that we are trying to understand."

Venue ( Address ):

South Bay Contemporary moved into The Loft in San Pedro in January 2015.  The Loft is in downtown San Pedro at 401 South Mesa in a yellow stucco building, wedged between an auto repair shop and a ship supplier warehouse. Built in the early 1900s, the building once was Pacific Laundry, which washed all the clothes and linens for cargo ships calling at the port. For 50 years, it served as a warehouse for Harbor Ship Supply, a ship chandler.   South Bay Contemporary will be hosting exhibitions in two galleries with polished floors and high ceilings.  Surrounding the gallery are 8 huge, airy, sunlit studios with artists who work in a wide variety of media.
