She then taught art at Cerro Costa College in China Lake, CA, for a year before being accepted at Otis Art Institute for graduate studies. She left Otis in 1970 to open her own Art Studio in 1971.

Her first shows of large spray paintings were held at 707 Gallery on La Cienega and the Brand Library Art Center in Glendale, CA. Her first show in New York on Madison Avenue was held at David B. Findlay Gallery in 1977 when she was thirty-two. The show sold out except for one painting. Thirty of her Earthslide crayon drawings were shown at Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, NY in 1980.

Celebrating 50 years as a full-time studio artist this year, she now has 545 collectors world-wide including five Museums: LACMA, Skirball, Laguna Art Museum, UCI Buck Museum of California Art, and University of Nevada Lilley Museum of Art. Recent shows include galleries in Florida and Tuscany, Italy. Her paintings have been published by the Getty in “L.A, Rising” and Yale University Press in “The Posen Library of Jewish Culture and Civilization.” The painting Yale published is “Black Forest VIII” from a series of paintings she dedicated to her Grandparents, Edith and Richard Hecht who died of starvation in the Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp in Germany. It was a part of the Robert A. Rowan collection. Rowan became a patron of her work in 1977. Susan Moss is also an author with four published books in several languages.
