Exhibit by Aberson is pleased to present a curated selection of work by artists Jessica Pisano and Jamie Kirkland.

Pisano and Kirkland approach landscape differently, but their perspectives of the natural and serene complement each other in an inspiring way. Each artist sees nature as her muse; grounding each piece in organic expansiveness and majestic stillness.

Jessica Pisano is deeply influenced by the natural beauty of her hometown of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Her cabin studio stands among a forest of trees allowing Pisano to take inspiration from literally outside of her front door. She seeks to portray the tree as a majestic form representing strength, stability and growth. Pisano fuses traditional and contemporary techniques in her painting style creating a unique result –– a synthesis of representational and abstract.

Jamie Kirkland’s work is described as “minimalist abstract landscape.” She aims to speak to the viewer through simplicity –– reducing a landscape to shapes and forms. Kirkland seeks to evoke a sense of limitless space, expansiveness, stillness and calm in her paintings. Her pieces reference seasonality with an economy of expression that is almost always atmospheric.

Pisano and Kirkland are both deeply engaged in nature in their work and venture to elicit a sense of wonder and tranquility through their paintings.
