J. Mane Gallery in conjunction with Homewatch CareGivers® of New Haven and the Shoreline is pleased to present The Art Of Aging online juried art exhibition.

The onset of aging can be so gradual that we are often surprised to find that one day it is fully upon us. The changes to the senses, appearance, reflexes, physical endurance, and sexual appetites are undeniable-and rarely welcome-and yet, getting older has its surprising blessings.  Growing old is not a disease but an art. For those who practice it well, it can bring extraordinary rewards; Faith and inner strength, the deepening of personal relationships, the realization that career does not define identity, the acceptance that some goals will remain unaccomplished-these are among the secrets of those who age well.

For this competition, artists were encouraged to share their artistic vision of aging.  Artworks varied from realism to surrealism to abstraction. All artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best inspired work.

Special guest juror for The Art Of Aging competition is American, abstract artist, and co-owner of Homewatch CareGivers® of New Haven and the Shoreline, Mary Elizabeth Peterson.  Mary Elizabeth is based in Connecticut.  She is a juried member of the elite Silvermine Art Guild and her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the North East. Her art has also appeared in TV and major motion pictures. Top retailers such as Lillian August, Pottery Barn and William Sonoma Home sell reproductions of her work.  You can learn more about Mary Elizabeth Peterson and her work at www.maryelizabethpeterson.com.

When it comes to elder care in the home, seniors generally require home care, home healthcare, or a combination of the two. At Homewatch CareGivers® of New Haven and the Shoreline, the mission is to redefine in-home care by caring for the whole person, not just their condition. Their in-home caregivers engage and bond with clients, all in the spirit of providing exceptional, dignified care. They match their caregivers to the needs of each client to ensure they receive the best possible care.

Each of our monthly themed exhibitions, awards for First, Second and Third Place.  The First Place winner for the Art Of Aging show is Linda McCord for her watercolor, Funny Pages. The judges felt his image truly captured the spirit of the theme of the show.

Taking Second Place is Joh Laue for his photograph, Sandy Sniffs Crabapple Tree.  Third Place goes to Guy Munsch for his digital collage, Knowing.  And Honorable Mention goes to Michelle Bennett for her oil on canvas, Black Eyed Grammy.

Please visit the Award Winners Page  to learn more about each of these award winning artists and to contact them directly about their work.

The remaining artists included in the exhibition serve as an example of impressive talent and we are honored to showcase their artwork on the J. Mane Gallery website.

We thank all the competition participants.
