J. Mane Gallery is pleased to present its 3rd Fins, Feathers & Fur International Online Juried Art Exhibition.

Animals have been a source of inspiration for many artists. From art about rural life and growth, to myths and legends, animals are used in art in many different ways. Art can help us explore our relationship to wildlife and can help us think about how we care for animals and the environment.

For this competition, we looked for not only technique with medium, but how well the artist captured the essence and spirit of the subject.

Each of our themed exhibitions, awards for First, Second and Third Place.  The First Place winner for the Fins, Feathers & Fur show is Christie Goldstein for her photograph, Blue. Christie’s interpretation of the theme as well as her use of the medium is outstanding. Christie is also the Featured Artist for the next four weeks.

Taking Second Place is Lynn Kibbe for her scratchboard, Vocalization.   Lynn’s command of the medium she used honors every strand of fur. You can feel the softness. And, Third Place goes to Kim Chase for her acrylic glaze, The Guardian.  Kim’s treatment of the subject are what made her work stand apart. It as if we can look right into the gorilla’s eyes.

Honorable Mention awards were given as well. Honorable Mention awards go to Sandra Belitza-Vazquez for photograph, Elephant Head, Katherine Derstein for her painted stone, Barn Owl, Nicole Dimt for her acrylic on canvas, A Curious Companion, Lynette K. Henderson for acrylic on linen, Three Zebras, Merry Jayned for her pen and watercolor, The Final Stretch, Fabienne Sowa-Dobkowski for her photograph, American Crow and Vast Tolia for her mixed media, Frolicking Friends. Please visit the Monthly Winners Page to learn more about each of these award winning artists and to contact them directly about their work.

The remaining artists included in the exhibition serve as an example of impressive talent and we are honored to showcase their artwork on the J. Mane Gallery website.

We thank all the competition participants.
