Artist Talk, Poetry Reading and Closing Reception--"The Price of Everything" by Jennie Barrese

In the new year, Porter Contemporary will host an artist talk with Jennie Barrese. In “The Price of Everything,” her third solo exhibition at the gallery, Barrese shifts from photography to painting. The return to painting allows her to reconnect with her art on a more tangible and tactile level leaving the ethereal and digitally generated photography behind. Barrese says, “Everything was becoming visceral. On a journey such as this, you sometimes end up where you started, at the core of who you are, climbing out of the dirt and mud to pick a new road to travel down.”

The artist talk will feature a poetry reading related to Barrese’s work. The speakers are Amye Archer, Loren Kleinman, and Claudia Serea.
