- About -

The Gallery class was created to display contemporary art with the goal of educating, encouraging, and developing a vital interest and passion for the visual arts in the Archer community and abroad. The gallery and outreach objective is also to promote and increase the number of women involved in the art world. They will research artists working in Los Angeles and select a collection of artists to show in the gallery.
They will be involved with every aspect of the gallery business, including designing invitations, writing press releases and texts, curating the show, publicity, and hosting openings. The class will learn how to discuss and educate others about the work. The class will take trips to studios, galleries, museums, and meet with curators, gallery directors, art advisors, critics, and collectors to better understand how the business works. Students will research and meet with each artist that is shown to learn about the intricacies of their work, major themes and techniques. They will also receive training in art interpretation, communication skills, and on the art and artists’ historical significance.
