Early years project

Artists: Cristian Todie, Daniel Brici, Anca Danila, Francisc Chiuariu, Radu Belcin, Flavia Pitis

Early Years is a curatorial project produced by Nasui collection & gallery presenting the beginnings of some creative journeys of six contemporary artists. Early Years can emphase the chronology of life, of a particular creation period, of subjects or of ideas. Considering early years in art can be very specific.

What is also linking the approaches of these six artists presented hereby is their care for a specific subject: habits in particular contexts. Habits are states of mind, of things, of environments, that take different shapes and eventually get fixed during a person’s existence, influencing behaviour and decision.

The project is accompanied by a book (PostModernism Museum Publishing House)

Format: square 18x18 cm, 58 pg

Full colour, paperback // hard cover, dust jacket

Focus-artist: Bogdan Rata

Rata’s works forge a contextual change of the anatomic detail through its obsessive multiplication. The materials used, and the resulting industrial look, question the assault on individual personality in a climate of commercial branding uniformity.

Bogdan Rata is particularly interested that his works surprise fear, confusion, uncertainty and corporal disorder. ”I work with human fragments which I combine in order to create images with a strong emotional impact: frustration, fright, shame. I reinterpret the human body precisely in order to induce a state of confusion to the reader and to in a way force him to understand, from a different perspective, the contemporary human being. A finger can be stronger than a rifle, an ear more frustrating than an interrogation.” (Bogdan Rata)

Art Copenhagen is Denmarks largest international art fair for modern and contemporary art and is held for the 18th time this year. Throughout the years, the artistic focus has been the best of the Danish and Nordic art scene. In 2013, we invited a wider audience, and galleries from around the world were welcomed to display their art at Forum Copenhagen.

The young art scene is very vital these years. Art Copenhagen honours this by making a number of stands available for younger galleries. The young art scene is especially interesting because the next valuable and unique purchase from an up-and-coming artist could potentially be done here.

Art Copenhagen takes place at Forum Copenhagen just 5 minutes from downtown Copenhagen. In 2013, 9,043 visitors attended Art Copenhagen, visiting 59 exhibiting galleries.
