Curated by Tahlia Jolly.

Anna Pappas Gallery promotes emerging art from its roots. This time, emerging curator Tahlia Jolly takes the reign in a show that allows emerging contemporaries to shine through the walls of a commercial gallery. A concept not usually seen within these walls.

This exhibition draws together artists whose works contain the mere suggestion of change. Slight and subtle slips that may be almost unperceivable, yet nevertheless, are there. The artists presented in Slip are all Melbourne-based emerging artists: Laura Carthew, Sam Fagan, Emma Hamilton, Gian Manik, Scott Miles, Elyse de Valle and Anna Varendorff.

The artists’ works cross over numerous mediums and as such the exhibition will include painting, collage, sculpture and installation. From the notion of the ever-changing landscape, that of salt flats and ice fields, explored within the paintings of Scott Miles and sculptures of Emma Hamilton, to Laura Carthew’s collages addressing migration and Anna Varendorff’s delicate sculptures quietly suggesting the possibility for movement, each artist in their own way presents a state of change, or at the every least, the prospect of a change occurring.
