Forecast, an international online solo painting exhibition by Robert Mullenix, opens on September 15 and will continue through October 15, 2022.
Robert's work is intended to provoke thoughts as much as it presents time and place. In this series, he has adopted the American West as his subject in order to reinterpret in light of climate change. Rather than offer a pastoral scene of endless potential I posit stress and crisis. The West experiences direct impact of climate change from droughts to wildfires made worse by extended fire season, from to increasingly heavy rains to devastating flooding.
As written in his statement, it is this West that he wants to represent. However, his west is not the exact representations. These are more like forecasts and interpretations.
