Renaissance Renewal, an international online oil painting exhibition by Libby Bailey opens on September 01 and will continue for two months until October 31, 2023.

Libby Bailey's art may be described as realistic, surrealistic, colorful, textural, complex, narrative and metaphorical. The realism refers to the visual believability of the people, objects, landscapes and architecture. The surrealism denotes the juxtapositions of motifs that are not ordinarily found together and the tilted, distorted perspective spaces.

Color is an essential aspect of Libby's work as it creates the aesthetic and emotional impact and the textures of the oil paint and brush strokes on the canvas create s surface vibration. The characters and settings suggest stories left to the imagination. The religious and mythological symbols are metaphors for psychological and spiritual states of mind. Just as mythologists and philosophers have noted cross currents of meaning among myths and allegories across time and location, she combines people, places and symbols from different times and places to create visual dreams.
