Exhibition statement
This exhibition unfolds one of the major themes of Vladimir Kolosov’s oeuvre. From the very beginning, when he was just a student the topics of time, our existence, conscious, and memory attracted his attention and found reflection in many of his artworks. The present selection includes paintings created in recent years.
The stylistic of Vladimir’s works is changing, but the special aesthetics inherent in the artist is preserved - a complex elixir of courtly gesture and something very personal, not amenable to any identification, almost existential, living on the edge.
Vladimir believes that the true artist has an ability to see something that is hidden for others and to transmit it onto a canvas in clear visual form. He is multi-educated artist with broad erudition that allows him to see, analyse, and understand "invisible" and hidden, to define the important, and then to deliver his findings to the audience with emphasis on key elements of our being. His otherworldly art - polysyllabic ciphers, endowed with their own meaning and quality of skillful presentation. Vladimir considers that subconscious and imagination are very important for creative process. Whenever he touches paper or canvas, he touches his own experience and imagination. He depicts his inner vision of the subject. Pencil or brush are sort of probes inserted into the subconscious and imagination of the artist and controlled by the artist's conscious. Vladimir is recognized colorist and every art piece is characterized by his exceptional sense of colours, their interactions which form specific energy and life in a special space of an artwork.
It is also important to point out that every Vladimir’s artwork is an invitation to a dialogue with a viewer.
