Waiting until Heaven is Done
paintings
September 14th to November 2nd

For the opening with the artist on Saturday, September 14th at 8 pm we invite you and your friends to Erfurt. At the same time we are presenting a show with new works by Grigori Dor.

One of the most exciting positions of contemporary German painting, substantiated, technically brilliant and contextually astute, represents a man born in Hanoi.
Nguyen Xuan Huy (* 1976) comes from a Vietnamese family of artists. Even as a teenager, he was a brilliant draftsman. European mythology and art were very popular with the Nguyens, especially Géricault, Matisse, Manet, Boucher and Bosch were appreciated.
As a nineteen-year-old, Nguyen Xuan Huy began studying painting at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy in Halle. His first canvases were realistically painted altercations with his old homeland, the war, the hundreds of thousands that were mutilated by Agent Orange and the dictatorship. After graduating, he created the topos of the Asian Maenads, the sensual, ecstatic, mutilated women who march dancing under communist symbols - metaphors of the beautiful and tortured country. The backgrounds of these pictures remained white, as if they were banners.
For about a decade, Nguyen Xuan Huy dedicates his work to his new homeland. His artistic analysis of the current state of our continent as well as its inhabitants is quite disturbing. He tries, he writes, to "create" a fictional, 'cure world' in which all human beings are malformed and yet serene, in which they are convinced that they follow a 'cool' ideology. My work seems to be politicized, but I am only interested in the indoctrination mechanisms of ideologies and their consequences, which in my view can lead to the quasi 'mental malformation' of man. The indoctrination seems to me as a mechanism that treats the human mind like dough, which one arbitrarily and often ruthlessly deformed by violence for certain purposes."
