This new 'Coast' series by Claire Harmer is full of energy and colour as she harnesses her experience of the shore through abstract painting. Anchored with the impression of a horizon, Claire builds the composition intuitively with spontaneous application of paints and inks Claire builds layers then strips them back, scratching through the surface adding flicks, drips and washes as the work takes shape.
There will be an evening launch event on Friday 7th October 6-8 pm - an opportunity to meet Claire and share a glass of wine with us.
To attend the launch please RSVP at https://www.art-hub.co.uk/events-1/coast22pv
The exhibition is open Thursday - Saturday 11 am - 5 pm or by appointment

Artist:
2022 marks dramatic change for cabbage tree studio (the name I give to myself in terms of making art). I am carving out time for the art studio every week. Time to ponder, play, reflect, practise and make. I am drawn to both painting and printmaking. My work varies from oil on canvas to table top screen printing. I am still very much in the process of play and discovery and absolutely loving it! Whatever the medium, contemporary landscapes would come closest to describing the work. Inspired by views from the most local in The Bay, to Cumbria and of course, New Zealand. Among the displayed works, sketchbooks and pinboards you will find colour, texture, layers, and many horizons.
