Susan Tonkin Riegel’s residencies in France over two years have yielded a dynamic new series of abstract mixed media work. Her compositions vibrate with gestural lines, both drawn and stitched, and saturated areas of color on paper and other surfaces. New two-dimensional work includes elements such as letters, symbols, and enigmatic figures, and two-sided pieces mounted on stands called ‘Stand Alones.’
