Hot Stuff explores sculptural jewelry that pushes the boundaries of conventional beauty, traditional materials, and classic techniques. The artists adress the female experience in their work. From Calderwood's chimeras of feminine botanicals combined with fragments of a woman's body, Shimpock's sensual comfort food pieces, to Baker Gower's silicone sculptures resembling the womb, each creation is a commentary on women in contemporary life. This exhibition represents the new age of art, craft, and ornamentaion and is the first of its kind at MBAC.
