Artists Simon Dvorak and Charlie Schneider will be presenting an original interactive art piece at the Crocker Art Museum for the Quench Art Mixer this Thursday, July 9th from 5-9:00pm
“Accumulation + Assemblage (Digital Diversion #6) Sacramento, CA” Is a collaborative project that speaks to the transformation of the physical world into digital system of organization, use, and display. The artists’ accumulation of data, using random sampling processes for video and text feeds, presents a positive spin to the data mining and information gathering by more powerful interests: the work is fundamentally about human relationships and ties to place. It is about parts that make the whole.
For the “Quench” Art Mixer, one camera will be placed so as to view the Sacramento River, and the other will be in the courtyard of the Crocker. In this way, the colors from the river will contrast with the colored text of the local twitter feed, creating a sense of the similarities and differences between the flow of the river, the flow of tweets and the flow of museum visitors.
Simon Dvorak graduated with a degree in Art Studio from U.C. Davis in 2000. His work is concerned spacial interactions both physical and digital, and data visualization. He currently works and lives in Davis with his family. Information about the artist and his latest work can be found at simondvorak.com.
Charlie Schneider is a California-based artist. He recently completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he was awarded the prestigious Trustee Scholarship more information about his work can be found cschneiderart.com.
