Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a two-person exhibition by Ned Evans and Jeff Metz.

“I like to push and pull the limitation of color-infused fractures, dissection, and re- assemblage. This most recent collection of paintings celebrates the convergence of aerial perspectives, seductive angles, as well as brilliant and intoxicating color”. – Ned Evans

Always dealing with texture, Ned Evans effortlessly integrates fabric, acrylic paints, and various materials to create complex interplays of varying surface structures and compositions. Within each of these paintings, there are moments of intimacy to be discovered, spaces almost recognizable, while others completely abstracted all with a controlled chaos.

“My current work focuses on generating a unique interaction between rigorous geometry and fluid movement. The inherent and essential tension which exists between these poles drives my sculptural explorations.” – Jeff Metz

Through the language of abstraction, Jeff Metz strives to conjure a familiar emotional presence in unfamiliar physical forms. His process of stone carving is driven by this search for the unexpected. This typically unfolds in a series of complex interrelationships throughout one sculpture, where Metz’ aim is to achieve a synthesis and unity.
