Seamus Conley : Catch My Fade

Country:

Categories:

“This new body of work is an extension of my interest in combining or overlapping fantasy based imagery with images that represent reality or some sort of truth: to portray an experience of daydreaming or being wrapped up in one's internal universe while simultaneously existing in the moment of the external world.”-- Seamus Conley

Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition for Seamus Conley, opening Wednesday, April 29, 2015.

Seamus Conley strives to aesthetically combine slick, professional, fantasy imagery with that of low budget, amateur, documentary style imagery.  This creates a synthesis, which to the artist, mirrors the human experience of someone who lives entirely within his own mind while the other is drawn to more of an external reality.

Conley is a self-taught painter who works with oils on canvas and graphite drawings on paper.  In 2006 he was awarded the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and in 2007 he was a SFMOMA SECA Award Nominee.  This is his forth solo exhibition with Andrea Schwartz Gallery.
