Amos Eno Gallery is pleased to present Come Play With(in) Me, an installation of new work by Erik Patton. A closing reception will be held on Friday, May 20 from 7-9 PM at the gallery’s new location at 56 Bogart Street in Brooklyn, NY.

Come Play With(in) Me alongside Silver Pound*, Solar Anus**, Lamppost***, and other friends we'll meet along the way. Patton continues his interest in the body, its relation to material, the notion of abstraction (specifically related to queerness), and the phenomenological with Come Play With(in) Me, a partial-room environment that will evolve throughout the course of the exhibition, culminating in a closing party on May 20. The exhibition consists of 3 stages connected by light:

(*) Enter the bath first; you must wash your dirty asshole, as you only shat two hours ago. Collect your body in the Silver Pond, part dance floor, part bath.

(**) Step out of the Silver Pond towards a self-contained beacon. “It’s not a lamp, but a ‘lamp’”. Solar Anus introduces a path forward. Sexuality is only one form of relation, after all.

(***) Lastly, come upon Lamppost for transportation to the beyond, where eye becomes anus, and anus, eye.

As early as the Old Babylonian hymns, the anus has been recognized as a transposable body portal. So, where will yours take you?

Patton received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard College in Art History and Visual and Environmental Studies, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, and is a graduate of Hunter College’s Master of Fine Arts program in Combined Media. In the last 5 years, Patton has shown his work in New York, Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago at various galleries, institutions and fairs including: MoMA PS1 (studio visit), Center for Contemporary Art (Bedminster), Governors Island Art Fair, Houston Fine Art Fair, Curb Gallery (at David Zwirner, Gagosian Gallery, Hauser & Wirth, and The Whitney Museum of American Art), and Art Variant.
