Dimensional Cloth: Art Quilts and Fabric Sculpture: A Solo Exhibition by Andra Stanton

As a former psychotherapist of twenty-five years, I’ve heard many stories of suffering. As an individual living with multiple medical problems—including curvature of the spine (scoliosis) and chronic fatigue - I know about suffering personally.

Suffering accompanies loss. Big or small, loss takes an emotional toll.

Naturally, we would all like to turn away from suffering—from sadness, anger, and grief. But this can be a huge mistake. The only real way to get past grief is to go through it: to feel it, cry about it, talk about it. And, possibly, to express it through art.

I have always found comfort in pursuing art and crafts. It enables me to feel in control and gives me both solace and joy. For the last ten years I've honed my abilities and can say today that my art has been shown in galleries throughout the US. It gives me great satisfaction to know that others find my work interesting or beautiful, and that it is appreciated by art lovers.
