Raw Art Forum are a collective of artists united by a shared vision to provide a platform for open dialogue and support, and to create through collective effort and organisation, opportunities to show in a variety of selected venues. They seek to find, where possible, alternative routes to exhibiting, in addition to the current art pathways available to artists, and to continue to make the process of exhibiting a supportive and accessible procedure.
Their primary aim is to enable group artists to control all aspects of the exhibition procedure, seeking to create and curate exhibition material which is ultimately challenging in its content, hiring independent exhibition venues, to promote the work of the group members to a wide audience on a regular basis. In addition, they seek to collaborate on joint practice enterprises with a view to creating new pieces for display and discussion.
As part of this practice, Raw Art Forum members Aidan Cooper, Steve Neill, Jennifer Jayarajah and Fergus Cooper bring a group show of their explorative works to Artizan Gallery in May. Between them, work spans a spectrum of media including photography, collage, painting, sculpture and various composite works, exploring themes of feminism, visual culture, conflict and the modern media.
