A National Lottery Heritage Funded project to restore Mrs Smith’s Cottage in Navenby has provided opportunities for creative exploration of Mrs Smith’s environment and lived experience.

Mrs Hilda Smith’s principled existence, determination and warmth have inspired new reflections on contemporary life.

The funded projects reveal links between heritage, conservation and contemporary art and offers interactive elements, such as exploring the layers of paint and wallpaper from the cottage’s century of history, as well as presenting some of the newly completed commissions by local artist-in-residence Nicki Jarvis, including the Navenby Map Rug and the Friendship Chair.

The exhibition is complemented with an associated programme of hands-on activities, gallery talks and workshops. Please visit our website for further details.
