Amos Eno Gallery presents Off Course, an exhibition of recent paintings and sculptures by Chris Esposito. A reception will be held on Friday, September 8 from 7 - 9 PM at the gallery’s new location on the first floor of 56 Bogart Street in Brooklyn, NY. The gallery will be open until 9 PM on Friday, September 22 in participation with opening night festivities of Bushwick Open Studios arts and culture festival.

For his second solo exhibition with Amos Eno Gallery, Esposito continues his exploration into the duality of painting and sculpture through material combinations that create a formal language. Featuring a series of paintings and sculptures, Esposito questions our orientation by making objects function like beacons to navigate uncertain times. Through a process of reclamation and reuse that is characteristic of the artist, Esposito produces sculptural beacons from elements cast off or reclaimed from other projects - lashed, stretched, and bound – into objects made for conceptual survival amidst political chaos. Esposito suggests a reality where we gain a firm grasp on the immediate only to find it used up, a husk of what we expected. By turning detritus into an iconic journey away from our present locale, Esposito materializes the experience of moving towards a future that is forever unknowable.

Artist ( Description ):

Esposito has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States as well as internationally. He is faculty of painting at Queens College CUNY, is an active participant in The Imaginary Archive, and one half of the art collaborative Damfino. Esposito and Damfino currently have work on display at Adelphi University for their Sculpture Biennial and in Supply + Demand at The Art Center Gallery in The Rosenthal Library at Queens College.
