Join Fort Works Art for North Texas artist Hillary Dohoney's first large scale solo show titled adrift, an exhibition exploring roots and heritage and showcasing Dohoney's peaceful techniques using realism and trompe l'oeil.  The exhibit will also spotlight 'Hiraerth,' Dohoney's painted interpretations of refugee experiences and their most cherished possessions.

Adrift will be paired with the exhibit 40 Under 40 juried by Maggie Adler of the Amon Carter Museum -- dedicated to finding young, new talent across the Nation. North Texas musician Sam Lao will perform on the roof of Fort Works Art Gallery, with additional performances from Ronnie Heart, for an evening of celebration with the Modern Contemporaries. The opening reception for adrift and 40 Under 40 and Modern Contemporaries event is  Friday, September 15, 2017, with the concert launching at 9 p.m. To make a reservation for the Modern Contemporaries event, please contact sonya@themodern.org. Artist ( Description ): 

Hillary Dohoney is from Fort Worth, Texas. She has a BA in Studio Art and Art History at Trinity University. She received Trinity University's Excellence in Art Award upon graduation.

Hillary has been a finalist in the Hunting Art Prize. Conversant in French, she studied abroad in Paris where she was a docent at the Musée d’Orsay and an official copyist of the Louvre.

Mainly working in oils, she takes the classical approach of trompe l’œil to render unconventional entities. Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Arkansas, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth.
