Milwaukee, WI (July 5, 2017) — The Frank Juarez Gallery is pleased to present Credo quia Absurdum featuring new works by Rob Neilson. This will be Neilson’s first solo show with the gallery.
Join us on August 12 from 5-8pm for our artist reception. This exhibition runs from August 12 – September 16, 2017. The Frank Juarez Gallery is located at 207 E. Buffalo Street, Ste. 600, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202. An exhibition catalogue will accompany the exhibition and be available for purchase at www.fjgmke.com and at the gallery.
In this new body of sculptural works, Neilson concentrates on the exchange between the idiosyncratic and collective connotations borrowed from the individuals depicted. Exploiting the traditional genre of the portraiture bust in a way which combines iconography and incongruity, Neilson creates art constructed from layered MDF (medium density fiberboard) and finished with handmade milk paint to consider the space where the iconic encounters the absurd.
