Gallery House is excited to announce its first featured artist show of 2020, “Interiors,” with noted Bay Area painters Mitun Balman and Charlotte Coqui at Gallery House, 320 S. California Ave., Palo Alto, CA from February 2 through February 29, 2020. The public is invited to a free reception with the artists on Saturday, February 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  On reception night, it is always interesting to hear many different people’s reactions to the artists’ works and how they interpret the world.

“The interiors of one's perception are unique to each individual,” says Coqui. “While we believe we see the world about us as others do, what we as individuals really see is inside our own minds' eyes. Past experiences and thoughts change human perception and focus.”  Mitun sees the delicately detailed interior of a room through combinative perspectives or parallel states of mind and focus, necessitating utilization of many masters' interpretations - art movements and their combinations. Coqui works without a plan, applying colors as directed by her heart, creating luminous abstracts.

Coqui works with luminous colors inspired by the interiors of her imagination. An intuitive process which is silent as the language of color itself. She doesn't know how the abstraction will appear until the piece is completed.

Mitun completes a composition within the mind first, before putting any of it on paper. Each composition reflects a combination of -isms for simultaneous depiction of reality and subconscious, fighting aggressively for the viewer’s attention, and employs optical illusion to great effect.

Gallery House new hours are Sunday through Wednesday 11am-3pm and Thursday through Saturday 10am-6pm. 320 S. California Ave., Palo Alto, Ca.  (650-326-1668)  (Enter through Printer’s Café)
