Artist ( Description ):

Artist locale: Northern CA, USA

Subject matter: Animals

Medium: Acrylic & Mixed Media

Other Info:

"My love for animals inspires my acrylic, mixed-media paintings on canvas. I combine bold, exaggerated, contrasting, and complementary colors to create fun and sophisticated interpretations of animals that roam the west such as, horses, bears, and bison. I will often add a layer of square and rectangle pieces of collage paper to the canvas for the backgrounds before applying colors to create a grid-like pattern. All the textures add interest and depth to each painting and my subjects. While I paint, I rely on my innate sense of design, using all the available visual elements to accomplish visual balance as each animal becomes lively and vibrant." Dara
