Please join us Saturday July 6, 2019 for the Artist Reception of About Face.
A portrait is painting, drawing, photograph, or an artist representation of a person with a particular focus on the face. Most often a portrait unlike a snapshot is a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait usually shows an individual gazing directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most effectively engage the subject with the viewer.
For this call to art Mona Niko Gallery invited artists to submit their best portrait. The resulting exhibition features local, national and international artists. The works capture personality, character, expression, spirit and mood.
Works in oil, acrylic and mixed media from Mykel Hibbard, Amirmohsen Salmanizadeh Mansour, Matt McMullen, Shirin Moosavi, Yasaman Mostajeran, Elham Nazari,
Audrey Hernandez Peterson, Hilary Saner, Shawanda Schiefer, Nooshi Sepehri, and Sakinno Wu.

Artist:
Sakinno Wu - Sakinno is a Chinese artist and educator living in San Francisco, California, and has lived and worked in the United States for 8 years. Currently creating abstract oil paintings and collages. Based on the ability of artists to capture sensitively, Sakinno uses portraits as the axis her art body. She works with fragmented colors and shapes and links between places, cultures and personal growth experiences. Her concepts are closely related to human beings' exploration of their identity, including herself, the people around her, and every aspect of confrontation between the person in front of the painting and the person inside it.
This group exhibition was selected from hundreds of submissions from around the globe. This exhibition runs the entire month of July.
