Photography Now brings together a wide range of UK and international photographers from Australia, Bolivia, Croatia Italy and Romania. Each photographer has a different approach and provides innovative, contrasting and alternative ways to explore a wide variety of themes and the way we view photography itself as a contemporary art practice.

You will discover a variety of works that will pull you in to dig deeper. Chris Pendleton’s “Walk” series is an evolution of a previous body of work that explores the relation of the people we pass on a day-to-day basis and the details of those people we retain. Often, when on a commute through familiar locations we only notice such things like the colour of a top or that the person may be holding a bag, creating a soft memory of that person. The visual similarities echo the beginning of a difficult chapter in Chris's life, when it was confirmed his unborn child would be born with 4 life threatening heart conditions. Once hearing this news, everything went soft or fuzzy, with only simple figurative shapes and colours recalled when trying to remember this event. Chris has worked hard to convoy this visual experience through his photographic work, and feels this has been achieved. Offering self exploration, Mishu Vass makes people question themselves, through her artworks. It is her way of dealing with her own questions, so passing this onto the viewers would be only natural. The answers are of no importance, as there’s no such thing as real answers and the only remotely accurate answer one can get is about their inner self, the rest is contextual illusion. She prefers to never stop questioning, though. It keeps her alive and it teaches her; which, in the end, is what she wishes for her audience as well.

You are warmly invite you to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of PHOTOGRAPHY NOW at The Brick Lane Gallery – The Annexe open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 11th November 2015.
