J. Mane Gallery is pleased to present its Watercolors International Online Juried Art Exhibition for the month of January 2019.

“Watercolor is a medium that can be as demanding and temperamental as those who choose to paint with it. But it is a colorful and exciting medium all the same – well suited to describing the many moods of the subject, as well as those of the artist wielding the brush”. ~Jean Burman

For this competition, watercolor artists were encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of any subject.  The artwork varied from realism to surrealism to abstraction. All artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best-inspired work.

Each of our monthly themed exhibitions, awards for First, Second and Third Place.  The First Place winner for the Watercolors show is Leah Dockrill for her painting, Six On The Block. Leah exhibited wonderful technique with the medium and the composition of the subject are what stood out. Leah is also the Featured Artist for the month of January.

Taking Second Place is Tonya Shoults for her painting, When Water Misbehaves.   And, Third Place goes to Vega Davis for her painting, Botanical Study Bachelor Button 4.

Four Honorable Mention awards were given as well. Honorable Mention awards go to Vera Fainshtein for her painting, Market San Pedro, Suzi Hyun for her painting Strange Attraction, Jennifer Trivett for her painting White Oak Canyon and Julia Winter for her painting, She.

Please visit the Monthly Winners Page to learn more about each of these award-winning artists and to contact them directly about their work.

The remaining artists included in the exhibition serve as an example of impressive talent and we are honored to showcase their artwork on the J. Mane Gallery website.

We thank all the competition participants.
